Hero - BTT

Last week, Booking Through Thursday was about our favorite heroine. This week:

You should have seen this one coming... Who is your favorite Male lead character? And why?

This one is really hard to say. I guess I have never really thought about my favorite guy in books. I guess I was always pretty fascinated with Edmond Dantes, from The Count of Monte Cristo, and his multiple transformations. Even though most of the novel is spent in his seeking revenge, he still has humanity within his character and wakes up to the world around him at the end.

I also liked Sherlock Holmes. He wasn't much on the interpersonal skills sometimes and there was the opium addiction but he was smarter than anything and I always admired that. He caught the bad guy and figured things out. Good job, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, even if you did try to kill Holmes.

I have Sherlock Holmes on my list, too. I envy his powers of observation.

I didn't pick either of these guys (I have a horrid memory) but I *love* them both. There's a few things I remember from Sherlock Holmes, and considering my memory, that's saying a lot. :D

I never read books by Edmond Dantes but I have read Sherlock Holmes books long time ago. I can't rememeber much about him but I know he was a good one.

Happy BTTs and have a good Thursday!

A number of people have picked Sherlock Holmes. It's a great choice because he is so complex.

Maree- I remember thinking how cool it was that he could tell a person their profession and a whole host of other things just by meeting them. Definitely a skill that could come in handy!

Trish- They are great characters. My memory tends to fail in stuff outside of books... I have great memory there, but I don't know how much it is worth...

Julia- Edmond Dantes is a character in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.

bookgal- Holmes is definitely a dynamic character and he is also fun to read. It all works out for him.

The Count of Monte Cristo is on my tbr list - it's so long I keep putting off reading it. I do like Sherlock Holmes, such a clever man.
